We're talking about Dads of course. Fathers of all kinds, from the craft ale loving, indoor scarf wearing "hip" dads to those with pipes, cardigans and a fondness for cricket, are sure to find something to love here at the ELR. Take a look at our top picks for Father-Friendly gifts below!

Is your father a foodie fan, probably, what Dad doesnt like his grub, so why not take him on a dining experience with a difference?

The Red Rose Diner, taking place on the Night before Fathers Day, offers a luxurious evening meal, with a delicious menu featuring Game Terrine and Melba Toast with a baby lead salad, seasonal Vegetable Soup with herb croutons, Sautéed Steak & Mushrooms with a cracked peppercorn sauce, Chocolate Fudge Cake with vanilla ice cream, yummy. Tickets cost £45 per adult.

Alternatively, opt for a full on Sunday feast on Fathers Day itself with a Lancastrian Lunch. This traditional Sunday meal will enthuse, Country Style Pâté with homemade chutney and a baby leaf salad, Traditional Roast Chicken with stuffing and chipolata sausage, with Toffee Apple Cheesecake and fresh cream to follow. Tickets cost £42 per adult and £30 per child.

If your dad has ever looked longingly at the elaborate model railway displays he has seen on television, or shown a marked tendency to wear overalls and a flat cap around the house, muttering choo choo noises to himself, he may need to see a doctor. Failing that, why not book him a spot on the East Lancashire Railway's Footplate Experience? Each course includes the opportunity to drive and fire, or act as the second man, on one of our lovingly restored heritage steam or diesel engines. Lunch and a behind the scenes tour can also be included for the course participant and up to two guests.

For the history buffs and ale aficionados alike, the East Lancashire Railway is proud to present the popular Rail Ale Trails. These professionally guided tours take trail-goers on a steam powered pub crawl around the Irwell Valley, to some of the regions finest olde-worlde pubs and modern craft ale bars, all while being regaled with amusing, occasionally gruesome histories of the local area and its thriving ale brewing industry. Each tour also includes a hearty pub lunch and a complimentary bottle of ale. Why not make the most of Father's Day weekend by joining the tour taking place on Father's Day itself!

If your Dad's the type who always has a camera close to hand then the railway's Photography Experiences would make the perfect gift. Ideal for any skill level, be they eager amateurs or experienced shutterbugs, the courses offer a fantastic day out for those wishing to brush up on their skills, or pick up entirely new ones, all on location in the picturesque Irwell Valley.

What do you get for the Dad who has everything? Allow them to pick their own present with one of our open Gift Vouchers! From Rail Ale Trails and Dining Experiences to Footplate Courses or just a day on the train, gift vouchers allow the lucky recipient to choose which activity and what day they would like to visit!
