M-egg-a good times at the Easter Lancashire Railway

Make like a bunny and hop along to the ELR this spring as we begin a season of springtime delights to celebrate this special time of year. We have something for everyone, whether you have a hankering for home-made crafts, a craving for Classic Bikes or an appetite for intergalactic adventure!

Sci-Fi on the Sidings, 1 – 2 April

Rawtenstall, the final frontier... or not. Take a steam train trip out of this world at this science-fiction family extravaganza. Travel back in time with Doc and Marty to visit the dinosaurs from a certain Jurassic safari park, join the rebellion against the stormtroopers and dark Jedi of the empire and give the ghostbusters a call!

Easter Children’s Craft Workshops, 5 & 12 April

Looking for a way to keep the kiddies occupied over Easter half term? Drop in to one of Bury Transport Museum’s drop-in workshops and get crafty! Make your own Easter bonnet to wow your friends and family on 5 April and experiment with Balloons on 12 April. Museum entry is free, attendance at the Craft Workshop costs £1 per child to cover expenses.

Neverland Express, 6 April

Set sail (or in this case steam) with Peter, Wendy,the lost boys and Tinkerbell, it's the easiest way to reach Neverland since the invention of fairy-dust deodorant. Explore the mermaid filled lagoons and avoid the ticking crocodile and work side by side with Captain Hook himself as you attempt to save the magical island from a terrible fate.

Noble knights and fair maidens, we invite you to be our guest, let it go, dig a little deeper and enter a whole new world! Join this all singing, all action adventure to find out!

Classic Bike Rally, 16 April

Get your motor running and head out on the highway to reach this exhibition of vintage two-wheelers sited at the fascinating Bury Transport Museum. The perfect opportunity to ogle some beautiful bikes from all over the country, and perhaps take a train ride into the bargain!

Easter Bonnet Day, 17 April

Tip your hat to the Spring with us as we celebrate the joyful season with a special offer! Children who bring their own home-made Easter Bonnet are eligible for free travel on the train, so this craft orientated event is a great way to have a good value day out!

Dust of your broomstick and ready your wand, the next term of Magic School is about to begin! Join the staff of wacky warlocks and witches as they fight of demons, dark wizards and school-time blues to bring back the magic hat, without which school cannot begin!

Alice in Wonderland, 21 – 23 April

Take a tumble down the Rabbit Hole with Alice and explore the frabjous delights of Wonderland. Take tea with the Mad Hatter and play some cards with the Queen of Hearts, just be careful not to lose your head! This mimsical tale is told with the help of ridiculous rhymes and puppets, so don’t be late!
