    Autumn of Awesome

    The year may be winding down to a close, but it’s full steam ahead here at the East Lancashire Railway as our exciting event programmes continue apace! From a groovy 60s festival and two unmissable Autumn Galas to a visit from everyone’s favourite little blue engine, there’s a lot to fall for besides the leaves this year.

    Rossendale 60s Festival, 8 – 10 September

    Saddle up that scooter and steam to Rawtenstall for a 60s spectacular, featuring themed events throughout the time as well as live music at Rawtenstall Station.

    Vintage Transport Gathering, 10 September

    The Bury Transport Museum plays host to a fleet of elegant vehicles from a more glamorous age at this vintage vehicle exhibition. Get up close and personal with historic automobiles and motorbikes.

    The last big diesel event of the year looks set to be a real crowd pleaser with an intensive all diesel timetable featuring everyone’s favourite home fleet locos.

    Day Out With Thomas, 7 – 8 October

    Ideal for those looking to scratch their steam itch before the end of 2017, this large scale steam spectacular will star home fleet locomotives and guests running an all steam timetable.

    Halloween Ghost Trains, 26 – 28 October 2017

    Are you brave enough to step on board the Halloween Ghost Trains? Get set for ghoulishly good times alongside a host of hilarious haunters on this family friendly steam powered spookfest! Turn up early and enjoy a Creepy Craft Workshop at Bury Transport Museum as well.

    1. Take a trip to Queen’s Park in Heywood and kick some fallen leaves around.
    2. Nip in the air? Nip into the Art Museum in Bury to take in some local culture.
