Tornado: The 100MPH Steam Engine

This event has no upcoming dates

    Tornado returns

    A Legend Storms into Town

Batten down the hatches, Peppercorn Class A1 60163 “Tornado is returning to the East Lancashire Railway for the first time since 2010. The legendary locomotive, Britain’s newest steam engine built in 2008, will be celebrating her 10th Birthday in 2018. Come and celebrate with us by riding behind the locomotive on the weekend.

Despite her youth, Tornado has already become an icon, finding fame in “Top Gear” and the 2017 family feature film “Paddington 2”, as well as being the first locomotive to reach 100MPH in 50 years, so it comes as no surprise that we are so excited to welcome her back!

The world famous Flying Scotsman will also be on display at Bury Bolton Street Station on all days of the event. For an additional fee of £15.00 customers can book onto our Scotsman on Show experience and enjoy a tour of the engine, walking through the corridor tender and sitting in the driver’s seat!

    What’s Included?

    • A ride behind Tornado (at either 9am, 11:30am, 2:00pm & 4:30pm – approximately 2 hours and 10 minutes journey time from Bury Bolton Street Station)
    • Unlimited travel on other train services
