    Half Term Hilarity

It’s that time again, the sun is shining, the birds are singing, and the schools are closing their doors for another half term, leaving you the daunting task of keeping your little ones entertained for a whole week! Of course you could just go for a marathon session of whichever brightly coloured barnyard animal TV show your child loves the most, but why not choose to broaden your horizons? Why not choose experience? Why not choose an adventure on the East Lancashire Railway?

We have come up with an exhaustive list of things to see and do in the Irwell Valley during the holiday that is sure to keep even the most tenacious of tykes amused, so read on and let us help to handle half term!

    1940s Weekend, 26 – 28 May 2018

What little one doesn’t love dressing up. Deck them out in their best vintage togs and bring them along to this glamorous event that is sure to keep the whole family in a swinging mood. Enjoy live music, entertainment and battle re-enactments, browse vintage stalls for fashion and antique knick-knacks, see military vehicle displays and much more!

    Children’s Craft Workshop, 30 May 2018

Designed to be the perfect accompaniment to a day out on the East Lancashire Railway and the ideal way to keep little minds active while they are out of school. The Bury Transport Museum’s drop in craft workshop affords children the chance to design and build their very own hot air balloon (no hot air or burning gases involved). No pre booking required.

    Standard Running, 30 May – 3 Jun 2018

Introduce the youngest generation to the heroes of old and take them for a sunny day trip on a genuine steam engine. There really is something magical about these characterful, 100 year-old machines, and our standard services are a great excuse to explore the many opportunities and delights the Irwell Valley has to offer, from Chocolate Cafés to a dry ski slope.
