The Peoples Engine returns!
The People’s Engine makes a hotly anticipated return to the East Lancashire Railway, visiting for a series of static displays throughout the year. Get up close and personal to the legendary locomotive that was the first to exceed 100mph and for the longest time represented the very best of British industry.
Find out what makes Flying Scotsman so special with an engaging expert led talk, meet the crew and climb into the cab with our Scotsman on Show experience based at Bury Bolton Street Station). You can even sit in the driver’s seat and walk through the famous corridor tender, a not to miss opportunity!

Please Note: Due to the nature and location of this activity, our Scotsman on Show experience is regretfully not suitable for wheelchair users or people with reduced mobility.There are 50 slots available per session. Customers will be admitted onto the footplate in groups of four.

All of our stations offer step-free access, and on most services we carry a ramp to allow step-free access to our trains. Disabled toilet facilities are available on most operating days at Bury, Ramsbottom, Rawtenstall and Heywood Stations as well as Bury Transport Museum.
