ELR TO KEEP STEAMING IN TIER THREE

Running This Weekend.

Saturday 51456 or 32 and Class 50, 50015

Sunday Scenic Diesel Railcar x 2

ELR will remain open to visitors following the announcement of tier three restrictions for Greater Manchester and Lancashire.

Over half-term week, (October 29th to the 31st) – Halloween Ghost trains return. The notorious Irwell Grimm will be haunting tracks from Bury to Irwell Vale. Families can experience a 65 minute journey from Bury to Irwell Vale, filled with fancy dress, spooky stories, ghoulish characters and lots of tricks and treats - and are encouraged to attend in their creepiest attire. Find out more here.

In addition to Halloween Ghost trains, scheduled passenger services, as well as Santa Specials and Dining trains, will all continue to operate following government and local authority guidelines.

ELR has operated a Covid safe railway since reopening in early August. Visitors will receive a safe welcome to the railway with the reassurance that all the necessary measures are in place to ensure our stations and trains are fully Covid-secure

Find the amended timetable here.

The railway pubs are subject to closure - Bufferstops in Rawtenstall (closed since 16th October) and The Trackside at Bury Bolton Street station will both be closed at 10:00 pm on Thursday, 22nd October for a period of at least 4 weeks.
