The unique mix of both the urban and the rural in Lancashire provides the perfect setting for cinema and TV film makers wanting either a period or near contemporary railway backdrop for their productions.
Running along a 12 mile route between Heywood in Greater Manchester and Rawtenstall in the Rossendale Valley of Lancashire our railway, offers a whole myriad of locations that can easily represent a bygone era or the more present day.
Our fleet of heritage locomotives, carriages and freight vehicles are available for use and are capable of being disguised as from almost any nationality or period. For the more discerning producer we can also provide an historical advisory service in all aspects associated with railway operations, equipment and architecture.
The railway has worked closely with the BBC, ITV and a number of other production companies in the past few years and has featured in television shows such as Hollyoaks, Being Keegan, Deal or no Deal and the League of Gentleman and Tina and Bobby as well as blockbusters such as Paddington 2!
