Ideally situated in the North West of England the East Lancashire Railway provides an ideal location for the development and testing of railway infrastructure systems and equipment.
With over 12 miles of standard gauge route our railway can deliver a unique location to ‘test bed’ a whole variety of railway based assignments. Should the project require it we can provide traction units and rolling stock of similar design and characteristics to those in operation on the national network or can accommodate national rail vehicles and locomotives if needed.
We are linked to the main line network providing easy access for rail borne vehicles thereby obviating the need for inefficient and costly road transportation.
The wide variety of track form and line topography on our railway provide an ideal and challenging environment for the development and testing of innovative track, civil engineering, signalling, telecoms and power solutions. With a section of our infrastructure also approved for 100km/h operation we offer the perfect solution for your infrastructure maintenance systems and equipment testing requirements.
