All I want for Christmas is...

Last Christmas you gave them your heart, so you’re probably somewhat stumped as to what to give that special someone in your life this festive season. Well never fear, the East Lancashire Railway is here to help with a sleigh-full of brilliant gift ideas to show them that you care. From driving their own heritage steam or diesel engine to a guided tour of local history and local ales, there is sure to be something to suit.

Book vouchers for next year before the end of December 2016 and get them for this year’s prices.

Dining Experience

Does a luxury family feast get your festive tastebuds tingling, or are you looking for something a little more cosy, like an intimate evening meal for two? Our Dining Experiences have foodie fans covered, taking you back to an age where to dine by train was the height of elegance and sophistication. The evening Red Rose Diners create a superlative atmosphere of dignified dining and have long been considered the jewel in the crown of our culinary exploits, Lancastrian Lunches and Afternoon Teas on the other hand, allow for a less formal yet no less enjoyable experience.

Rail Ale Trails

Certified cider lovers, real ale aficionados and history buffs will be delighted to unwrap this on Christmas Day! The Rail Ale Trails combine a historical journey through the Irwell Valley with a hearty helping of local ales and steam powered travel, overseen by an informal professional guide. Be regaled with fascinating facts and amusing anecdotes about Lancashire’s brewing and rail industries, rebellious landlords and inventive industrialists, all while sampling the finest locally brewed brews on the brewing scene! Each tour also includes a hearty pub lunch.

Drive a Train

Stuck for what to get the steam fiend or diesel devotee in your life? Let us put in a good word with St Nick and make their childhood dreams come true! The Drive a Train Experiences allow “engine drivers in training” to do just that, stepping behind the levers, dials, knobs and buttons of their own heritage steam or diesel engine. There are a range of packages available, from full day courses that incorporate a guided tour to more focused experiences that focus on driving, whatever you choose this is sure to be a memory they will treasure forever.
