Drive a Train Experiences
You cannot behold the awesome power of a heritage steam or diesel engine without wondering what it would be like to actually drive one of these magnificent machines. Our Drive a Train Experiences will allow your dad to do exactly that!
Papa dearest will have the choice of driving a meticulously restored steam or diesel engine on this intensive full day experience. Utilizing the whole length of our line, he will get to experience every aspect of operating a locomotive, from shovelling coal to guarding the train.
And that’s only half of the experience as your father will embark on an expertly guided tour behind the scenes of the ELR loco sheds. This is one of the few ways members of the public can take a peek at the nuts and bolts (literally) of heritage railway operation.
Each experience also includes a hot lunch, safety briefing and a certificate for your dad to hang on his wall, ensuring he will remember the day forever!
