  • 926 Repton David Oxtaby

The East Lancashire Railway is pleased to announce the first guest for our Autumn Steam Gala, 926 “Repton”! The locomotive appears thanks to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and will be making its first ever appearance at the ELR!

This fantastic engine appears alongside a host of other guests and home fleet locomotives, running an intensive all steam timetable for the whole three days! There will also be stalls for those looking for souvenirs and a photography course on the same day, for those who fancy snapping some steamers!

Online booking will be available soon, find out more here.

Thanks David Oxtaby for sharing this image of the engine on Flickr.

  • 24 March 2019

Due to unforeseen circumstances the following services have been cancelled.

    14:45 Bury - Heywood
    15:15 Heywood - Bury

The 15:40 service will run as timetabled.

The steam service will run as timetabled.

The East Lancashire Railway apologises for this and any inconvenience caused.

  • Bury Council

Bury Council will be resurfacing Bury Bolton Street and Market Street for an approximately five week period beginning on 11 March 2019.

The work will be programmed to be undertaken in the evenings (Sunday to Thursdays) with traffic being managed using temporary one-way working and short term road closures. Temporary diversion routes will be signed accordingly.

As the works progress it will be necessary to restrict access to/from some of the adjoining side streets that connect with Bolton Street for short periods of time. This is to ensure the safety of members of the public and the contractors staff.

Unfortunately, when undertaking any scheme of this nature, some disruption is unavoidable; nevertheless, Bury Council will endeavour to reduce this disruption as much as possible.
