  • Halloween Ghost Trains

    Get set for some good, old fashioned, steam powered scares on the spooktacular Halloween Ghost Trains! Join an eclectic cast of giggling ghouls and ghosts on a haunted steam train ride to Rawtenstall and back through dark tunnels and past lonely stations. Terrifying treats are available at the station buffet, plus every child gets a goody bag! As if that wasn’t enough, the Creepy Craft Workshop at Bury Transport Museum provides the perfect way to get set for the scare!

    You can choose your time and even your scare level, so whether you fancy getting slightly spooked or totally terrified the East Lancashire Railway has you covered. Tickets cost £14.50 per adult and £7.50 per child. Under 3’s travel for free.

  • It's the moment you've all been waiting for ... Dining with Distinction 2018 Programme has finally launched!

    The past few months have seen our Dining with Distinction team been hard at work devising some devilishly delicious menus for your to feast your eyes upon! We are pleased to announce that for 2018 we will be ofering brand new Whisky Tasting Dinners, and bringing back some old favourites with Themed Diners, ideal for those globetrotting gastronomers, not to mention the introduction of some killer Murder Mystery Night themes.

  • Happy families

    There is only one more week to go until our Day Out With Thomas event, and we are really excited. This will be the Little Blue Engine's last visit to the ELR in 2017, so if you haven't already, or if you have and want to do it all again, make sure you come along to play. There's a whole host of things to do including:

    • Rides on Thomas
    • Meeting The Fat Controller and friends
    • Performances by Rusty and Dusty, Sodor's cheeky station sweepers
    • Unlimited Travel on Steam and Diesel trains
    • Thomas Themed Activities in the Imagination Station, including, Tabletop Games, Colouring, Thomas Films
    • Re-enactments of classic Thomas stories
    • Magic Shows
    • Circus Workshops
    • Face Painting

    The Fat Controller kicks things off with an opening ceremony at 9.45am each day so don't miss out. Tickets cost £18.50 per adult, £10.50 per child and £47.50 per family (2 adults and three children).

    The Autumn Diesel gala gets off to a roaring start 23 and 24 September. Join us for an intensive all diesel timetable featuring your favourite locomotives, including:

  • 10K Run

    The Asda Foundation Bury 10K and Arena Group Fun Run is taking place in Bury this Sunday at around 9.30 in the morning. If you are not directly involved then why not come along and help create an inspiring attitude for the runners by lining the route and cheering everyone on. The run will start and finish near the Rock in Bury Town Centre.

    Please note that, to ensure the safety of all of those taking part, certain of the borough’s roads and boroughs will be closed or have restricted access. Some parking restrictions will also be in place but major car park such as at Mill Gate, The Rock, Knowsley Place and Castle Leisure Centre will be open.

    If you are planning on attending Sundays Dining Service, please bear these road closures in mind when planning your journey, make sure to allow adequate time to arrive and park as the Lancasrtrian Lunch train will be leaving on time.
