  • Wands at the ready, it’s time to join a wacky cast of witches and wizards for madcap magical mayhem! Brush up on your broomstick riding and practice your potions as you complete your sorcerous schoolwork and rescue an enchanted artefact from a gang of evil warlocks!

    This interactive adventure will see you and your family join quirky costumed characters on a steam train ride, during which you will take part in themed activities and complete the story.

    Join the East Lancashire Railway for the final Day Out With Thomas of 2019! Enjoy rides behind the Little Blue Engine, a chance to meet the Fat Controller, performances by Rusty and Dusty (the cheeky station sweepers), unlimited travel on steam and diesel trains and more!

  • Thomas the Tank Engine

    The East Lancashire Railway is looking for the nation’s biggest Thomas the Tank Engine fan to become our “Junior Station Master” at our Day Out with Thomas event on 5 – 6 October.

    Lucky winners will be able to make a station announcement with The Fat Controller, sell tickets like a real train master and even sound Thomas’ whistle! The “Junior Station Master” will also guard the Thomas Train whilst their family ride along, with full day passes that include access to all of the activities and afford unlimited travel on steam and diesel trains.

    To enter, share a picture of your little ones on the ELR Facebook page explaining why they should be awarded this once in a lifetime prize! The winning entry will be presented with a “Junior Station Master” certificate and a special ELR and Thomas & Friends TM goody bag. Entries must be in by midday on Monday 30th September.

  • Road Closures

    Run for All are working with Bury Council to deliver the 4th annual Bury 10K run on 15 September, starting at 9:30am.

    In accordance with traffic authority regulations an order has been made prohibiting and restricting the use of certain roads and road junctions in order to ensure the safety of the runners and others.
