Things to See and Do

Hop onboard for grand adventures…

The North West is steeped in history and you can be a part of its unique story on the East Lancashire Railway. As you steam past memorable sites and dramatic landscapes you will encounter charming villages, cycling and hiking routes, wildlife trails, museums, galleries and theatres.

Why not try Lancashire’s famous Black Pudding at Bury Market, have a brew at a cosy cafĂ©, enjoy home-made cordial at England’s last remaining temperance bar or sup some real ale at a traditional British pub? The options are endless.

The railway runs heritage steam and diesel locomotives throughout the year to Bury, Ramsbottom and Rawtenstall in one direction and Heywood in the other, along with the two unmanned stops at the quaint villages of Summerseat and Irwell Vale.
