Welcome to Irwell Vale!
Irwell Vale is a typical Lancashire mill village in a designated Conservation Area, with fine examples of stone-terraced mill cottages at Bowker Street, it’s a real oasis. It is well worth breaking your journey at this point to see this pretty little village set on the Rivers Ogden and Irwell.
Drop in for a brew at the Irwell Church Tea Room before heading off to the nearby Helmshore Textile Museum. Irwell Vale is also part of the Irwell Sculpture Trail, one of the largest public art schemes in the UK, the trail is over 33 miles long and follows the path of the River Irwell, the Sculpture Trail re-launched in summer 2011.
