1940s Weekend Playing Banjo

Put on your best polka dot dress, polish your dancing shoes and join the East Lancashire Railway as we celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of her Majesty the Queen.

Climb aboard a heritage steam train and celebrate the best of 1940s Britain. Listen to live music and browse the stalls at this vintage spectacular.

There’s fun for all the family. Up and down the 12-mile line you’ll find stunning acts like Paul Harper, the Lancashire Belle, The Washboard Resonators and many more. A host of vintage stalls will offer clothing and memorabilia and you can even get your groove on with the Backstep Boogie Club.

Washboard Resonators

Hailing from Leeds, the Washboard Resonators are described as sounding and looking like a ragtime street band meets a Hollywood musical sometime in 1932. They play jazz, ragtime, hokum, blues and everything in between.

Join us for a special speech commemorating the Jubilee of her Majesty The Queen. The speech will be read out by Mrs Sharman Birtles MBE JP DL, Vice Lord-Lieutenant and will be followed by the National Anthem.

The Rum and Cola Girls are a duo that specialise in the recreation of the classics from the 40s, 50s and 60s. Their matching outfits help to set the scene as they take you back in time with songs from all of the greats, including the Andrews Sisters, Doris Day, Nat King Cole and more.

Vintage Cream Tea in Observation Saloon

Is there anything more British, and is there a better way to mark the Jubilee, than a Vintage Cream Tea? This quirky diversion is based in the beautifully restored Observation Saloon and sets off from Bury Station at specific points throughout the day.
