Latest Covid-19
Restrictions & Requirements

The situation with Covid-19 is constantly changing, but we’re doing everything we can to keep the East Lancashire Railway open and operational, in line with the latest government guidelines.

You’ll find up to date information on which of our services, events and experiences are currently running, and what type of social distancing measures are in place here

We’re Good To Go

We’ve received the official UK mark that signals a tourism and hospitality business has worked hard to follow Government and industry Covid-19 guidelines. It means we have a safe, recognised process in place to maintain cleanliness and aid social distancing.

Cleanliness & Social Distancing

Covid-19 Guidance

The ELR are a caring and considerate railway and like to look after everyone.

  • Face masks are no longer mandatory but we advise that our passengers to respect the safety of other people and wear a mask when indoors or in busy areas.
  • We would also request that social distancing is followed as much as possible.
  • Hand sanitizer and protective screens will remain in place for your use and protection.

Thank you for your consideration and co-operation.

Vouchers for the ELR

If you have an East Lancashire Railway Activity voucher or East Lancashire Railway Experience Voucher that is due to expire in 2020, we’ll be more than happy to extend the validity of the voucher for a further 12 months. We’ll give you a new voucher that will be valid for 12 months from the date of issue. Just get in touch with us.

If you have an Activity Superstore voucher for a ‘Steam Train Ride for 2’, please contact the Activity Superstore directly for an extension or refund.

Thank You

From everyone here at the ELR, we want to thank for all your help, understanding and support during this challenging time.

We’re doing all we can to keep the railway open and keep welcoming visitors, and we couldn’t have done it without you.

Any help you can give us is always greatly appreciated.
