Meccano Model Exhibition

Tech it to the limit!

We welcome the North West Meccano Guild to Bury Transport Museum, where they will be displaying a selection of meccano models as examples of engineering in miniature scales.

The models themselves range from large to small. Larger models are an excellent showcase of the modeller’s skills, whilst the smaller ones are less complex but have a variety of themes. You will see cars, lorries, windmills, pretty much anything that can be imagines, and most of which are powered and fully operational.

There’s even an “Aunt Sally” arcade game for visitors to try, using old two shilling pieces for its operation.

Little ones don’t need to fell left out, there will be a junior section to encourage young people to build models of their own invention using a large selection of plastic Meccano.

The model builders will be on hand to demonstrate their models, and answer any questions you might have.

Once you’ve seen these tiny marvels of engineering, see the real thing with a trip on one of our heritage locomotives! Book Day Rover Tickets here.
