Resident’s Permit

Home is where the start is…

The East Lancashire Railway is more than just a way to get from A to B. We like to think of it as a beginning, the beginning of your own adventure here in the Irwell Valley. Whatever tickles your fancy, from exploring to creating nostalgic memories, our Resident’s Permits mean every stop is the start of a new story.

Each of our stations offer something unique. Travel back through time to sample the Victorian splendour of Queen’s Park in Heywood, look for treasure in the world famous Bury Market, take in the natural beauty of Burrs Country Park and relax in Ramsbottom’s retail wonderland.

Further North you will find Irwell Vale, one of the prettiest parts of the line, and eventually you will finish up in Rawtenstall. Here you can enjoy a drink at the Buffer Stops Bar, the perfect end point to a day riding the rails.
