Check out the latest headlines from the East Lancashire Railway boardroom – August 2025
Here are the headlines:
- The ELR Hub website is under development and will house both the SMS and Rule Book. It is expected that the SMS will go live on the site in November with the Rule Book following early in 2026. The site will also house key HR documents such as the Staff and Volunteer Handbooks. Our thanks to David Robinson, a long standing and valued volunteer for the development of the site.
- We have negotiated a new revenue opportunity with an external partner who will use the ELR as a venue, for over 30 training days in the BTM education suite. Our thanks to Glenn Longworth for his work on this.
- ELR Heritage Painting services – two vehicle repaints delivered on time for a new well known movie franchise. As both vehicles arrived with us late, the team pulled out all the stops to complete on time. A great effort by the new painting team.
- During July we received a donation of £20,000 towards toilet refurbishment to take place in the first quarter of 2026. This was donated by Bury Enterprise and Loan.
- Revenues and cash-flow will remain challenging with people booking later and later.
- T&RS will be having an internal restructure following recent departure of the Diesel Traction Supervisor.
- A new 5 year agreement signed with Class 40 Preservation Society, with loco 40106 returning to the ELR in October.
- Tram Train update announced by the Mayor of Greater Manchester for the Heywood – Oldham link.
- Successful outcome from Visit England – Mystery Shopper. Overall scores went up marginally. There will be a strong focus going forward on improving customer toilets.
