Rail 200 Celebrations

Thanks to the organisers, Liam Barnes, Jonathan Valentine, Ethan Dalley, Chris Adams and Tom Peacock.

During September the East Lancashire Railway hosted one of the many national events to recognise and celebrate our world leading industrial heritage. This commemorative event took place 12 – 14 Sepetmber.

The event was a celebration of heritage railways and their preservation and availability to future generations. Several steam and diesel locomotives were running regular services throughout the say and visitors were able to board star guests like Furness Railway No.20, the oldest working steam locomotive in the country!

The event was well attended with over 1200 passengers over the two days. The Friday saw three visits by local schools, who had a train ride, a museum visit and were able to engage with a train guard and driver.
