Some of this important heritage can still be viewed today at Lamberts Mill, a converted mill turned shopping outlet with gift shops, a tea room and the only shoe museum in Rossendale.
The theme of history and heritage continues and visitors can discover more of the area’s cultural past at The Whitaker Museum & Art Gallery, Helmshore Textile Museum and Weaver’s Cottage, a renovated 18th century loom shop.

For something a little stronger, a visit to the railway’s own Buffer Stops Bar is a must for real ale aficionados.
