Home is where the start is…
The East Lancashire Railway is more than just a way to get from A to B, we like to think of it as a beginning, the beginning of your own story here in the Irwell Valley. Whatever kind of tale tickles your fancy, from travel journals to nostalgic memoirs, our Resident’s Permits mean every stop is the start of a new adventure!
A new station, a new chapter
Each of the seven station stops has a unique story to tell. Travel back through time to sample the Victorian splendour of Queen’s Park in Heywood, go on a treasure hunt at the world famous Bury Market, explore the natural beauty of Burrs Country Park and relax in the retail wonderland of Ramsbottom.
Continue north to take in Irwell Vale, one of the prettiest parts of the line, on your way to Rawtenstall where you can enjoy a drink at our own Buffer Stops Bar, the perfect final chapter in your steam powered adventure.
