On the 24th July the ELR presented long service plaques to a number of working volunteers. The ceremony was held, for the first time, on platform 2 at Bury Bolton Street next to the Volunteers Memorial Plaque.

The date is important because on the 25th July, the ELR celebrated its 35th anniversary since the first passenger train ran from Bury to Ramsbottom in 1987. In addition, 45 long service badges were also sent to staff and working members with 10 & 20 years’ service.

Since the launch of the awards in October 2021, 84 plaques and 300 long service badges have been awarded.
