Last weekend we had cause to celebrate as trainee guard Neil passed his graduation to become a fully fledged guard here at the ELR. To celebrate this momentous occasion, a friend of Neil’s, Dr Roy Brooks, presented him with his Father’s own Kerosene lamp.
Dr Brooks’ father started his railway career at Bury Bolton Street as a messenger and ended it at Blackpool as a ‘meeter and greeter’ so this lamp has a lot of railway history attached to it. Well done Neil on your graduation, we hope to see the lamp in use when you have cleaned it up!
