  • UK Rail Tour Charter – Charter train from Watford came onto the ELR on 7th March 2026, the first in a few years, which was very successful. The company’s feedback was very positive, and they are looking to do something with ELR on an annual basis.
  • Sustainability – The recent significant fuel price hikes (in particular diesel) and the increase to the minimum wage kicking in on 1 April adds yet more cost pressures at a time when heritage railways, like other tourism sectors, are seeing visitor numbers and revenues falling.
  • Irwell Vale is now a request stop.
  • The ELR visited the Ffestiniog railway as part of the preparation for an HLF Bid for Baron Street refurbishment works. The chairman would like to extend his thanks to Paul Lewin and his team for their help in hosting the visit to Boston Lodge workshops.
